Testing for drugs at home

All about home drug testing and the types of drug tests available. Often, drugs are a heavy subject in lots of house holds. As you are aware drugs are illegal and the upshot for either possessing them or taking them can be steep. There are a lot of types of drugs, often with a lot of ‘street’ names which makes them harder to make out, by non-users, in conversation.

The most common drugs used are:

•Cannabis – weed, marijuana, draw, hash, puff
• Cocaine – crack, charlie, coke
• Methamphetamines – E, ecstasy, MDMA
• Amphetamines – speed, whiz, dexies, uppers
• Opiates – heroin, morphine codeine
• Benzodiazepines – tranx, downers
• Methadone

Home drugs tests

The three main types of drug test are urine drugs test, saliva drugs tests and hair drugs tests, each variety shows different periods of usage; hair tests show usage over longer periods of time, urine tests show usage within days and saliva tests show if drugs have been used within hours.

There are various forms of home kits for testing drugs available; there are single cassette urine tests, which are often used as a cocaine drug test, cannabis testing and to test for opiates etc. There are integrated test cups which are used to test for several forms of drugs in one test, there are saliva tests which also tests for several types of drug. There are also hair drug test which can test for lots of of drugs, inconveniently these are Quite pricey and they cannot be done at home.

What should you do if you think someone you know is in possesion of drugs?

First of all it is most fitting to have a discussion with them and talk to them about it, remain cool and explain that you are concerned for their health. If the individual denies taking drugs but you still believe that they are, request that they do a drugs test to prove they haven’t taken drugs. But, if they take drugs they are unlikely to do it readily and unfortunately most tests require the person’s cooperation. In this situation it is recommended to get some advice from a doctor or a drugs specialist.
