The men in Hollywood don’t just walk the red carpet to accessorize the dazzling, couture-laden leading ladies. The gentlemen at last night’s Academy Awards proved they have some serious style chops of their own. We’re not giving away 8.5-pound gold statues, but we think it’s only right to recognize the guys who dressed and groomed like winners.
Best Dressed: Bradley Cooper
It’s not just Silver Linings Playbook that indicates he’s matured since his Hangover days (even though the franchise’s third installment is due this summer). We’re going to overlook the slicked back hair and give Cooper kudos for his Old Hollywood three-piece suit. “There’s a lot that can go wrong with a simple tux, but Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford got it all right,” says Brian Boye, Men’s Health magazine’s Fashion Director. “The wide lapel and vest were a nice touch.” The tailoring was impeccable, his trouser break was near perfect, and we award Cooper bonus points for the extra-classy move of bringing his mom as his date. Best Groomed: Jeremy Renner
The Avengers star cleaned up nice in a custom Givenchy suit and neatly styled hair with just a touch of height. (A nice upgrade from when we last looked at Renner.) Renner’s usual stubble was taken down a notch, which stood out among the many burly beards of the night. Diana Schmidtke, host Seth MacFarlane’s backstage groomer last night and brand ambassador for The Art of Shaving, agrees. “Renner’s hair was full, groomed, and perfectly styled,” she says. “I like seeing men at the Oscars looking dapper with hair styles to complement their dapper outfits.” Gentlemen, take note.
